Pine Tree graduate Lindsay Martin has big plans for her senior diving season at Trinity University.
"I just hope to have a better year than this year," Martin said. "I am working on about five dives, which are pretty complicated. The way to perfect them is just to keep practicing. Every year, the women get better and better."
If Martin gets any better, she will be celebrating an NCAA Division III national championship. Martin was third nationally in one-meter diving this year and will be the nation's top returning diver next season.
Martin also took fifth in the three-meter dive. The junior is the No. 2 returner in that event.
"It feels great to finish in the top five in both events," Martin said. "It was a fantastic experience and an honor to be invited. We were treated like queens by the NCAA."
Pine Tree grad, Clay Baker and Kilgore graduate Tai'shea Reese competed in the Victor Lopez/Rice University Bayou Classic track meet last weekend. Baker, a Rice sophomore, placed seventh and ninth in the shot put and discus, respectively. He was also 14th in the hammer throw.
Pine Tree graduate Ryan Sinclair has started 10 of Stephen F. Austin State's 13 baseball games, accumulating one homer, four RBIs, one double and five runs. SFA is 10-16 overall and 3-8 in the Southland Conference.
