Deadline: 4 p.m. on February 26, 2010
(Details on when and where to send a completed grant application are below.)
***Please note that any grant application with a technology purchase request must be reviewed & signed by Jeff Hahne, PTISD Director of Technology, before submitting to PTEF***
Purpose:
-to develop innovative ways to stimulate thought and advance new approaches to teaching students
-to participate in enrichment seminars, workshops, or programs to increase capacity for promoting student achievement
-to supplement technological applications above those normally provided by the school district
Applicant Eligibility:
Grants are available to any Pine Tree ISD personnel working directly with students, including teachers, counselors, librarians, and nurses. Applicants may apply individually, as a grade-level or subject matter team, as a campus, or as a vertical team of two or more campuses. In the case of team-based proposals, a Project Director must be designated to assume overall administrative responsibility for the project and all related correspondence.
Application process:
The Pine Tree Education Foundation has partnered with DonorsChoose to facilitate more funds to Pine Tree personnel working directly with students. DonorsChoose, a unique internet marketing resource for teachers, aims to improve public education by engaging citizens in an online marketplace where teachers can describe and individuals can fund specific student projects. Pine Tree teachers may post a grant application online at Donorschoose.org at any time during the school year. This online program connects teachers and students with average citizens throughout the nation willing to help fund education, a few dollars at a time.
How to Apply:
-
Use an official
2010 PTEF Grant Application for ALL grant proposals submitted to PTEF. Applications posted on DonorsChoose.com are encouraged and will be considered in the Pine Tree Education Foundation grant process ONLY if the applicant attaches a printed copy of the proposal to the PTEF Grant Application form. If posting a grant on DonorsChoose, allow approximately 3 weeks for processing by DonorsChoose. You may attach any other information you think would be helpful with your hard copy.
-
Complete the required information on the application.
-
Turn in your hard copy by 4 p.m. on February 26, 2010. Hard copies may be sent by campus mail to Cathy Shipp, Central Office. Make sure you allow enough time for your application to be received by the deadline.
Eligible Projects:
All projects should offer an innovative, creative approach to either an identified classroom need within PTISD established curriculum framework or special student-based project conducted by counselors, librarians or nurses. Proposals will be judged based on their innovative approach. Funds may not replace normal funding from tax-based sources (i.e. campus budgets). Products purchased with grant funds become the property of the district, not the individual. Expenses for consumable or single events must be justifiable.
Proposal Review:
The Grant Committee of the Pine Tree Education Foundation shall competitively review proposals. All proposals will be subject to number-coded, blind review relative to applicant(s) and specific campuses. Accordingly, specific reference to the applicant and campus should be limited to information on the cover page. Before final announcement, the PTISD Curriculum and Instruction Department will screen projects for the express purpose of assuring compliance with District Guidelines.
Notification of Recipients:
No later than May 7, 2010
